Moving from nursery to school can be a very anxious time for parents, carers and their children. As children approach statutory school age, staff at Nishkam Nursery will make preparations for the transition and will work together with schools to make the transition as ‘stress-free’ as possible.
We offer support by accompanying children on pre-school visits, by liaising with the school about children’s Individual Education Plans, and by passing on any other relevant information to the school.
Helping the school to understand the child’s needs can make a huge difference in giving them the best possible start to school life.
Children are able to visit their new school with peers, meeting the schoolteacher, spending time in the new classroom and also doing a short activity. Children may be able to meet other children that are going to be in the same class.
Parents and carers are also welcome to arrange a visit with the school if desired at their own leisure.
