Nishkam Nursery Leeds offers early years education and childcare in the heart of Leeds. Our purpose-built facility sits on the grounds of the Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh Place of Worship) in a built-up residential area, close to a primary school, a Church and a Mosque. We provide multi-agency, faith-based care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years, from 8am to 6pm. The nursery is registered for 56 children and has a Baby Room, Toddler Room, Pre-School and a secure outdoor play area. Spacious indoor and outdoor space and freshly cooked, nutritious meals make every day an enjoyable one.
Early years education and care are the most important moments in every child's life. They are the foundation everything later is built on. At Nishkam Nursery Leeds we aim to give every child from birth to five years a high standard of play, spiritual development, education and care, with activities and experiences matched to their age and stage.
Seven areas of learning
Our curriculum is play-based with a strong emphasis on free play and free flow. Through the day there are opportunities for problem solving, making choices, exploration, physical play, imaginative play, and building confidence and independence.
We are committed to inclusion and to high standards of education for every child, including those with a special educational need and those with gifted and talented attributes. We have an appointed special educational needs coordinator (SENCO) and work closely with other experts and agencies such as speech and language therapists.
Throughout the setting our practitioners use the 30 spiritual and moral dispositions in their planning, helping children develop spiritual and value-led qualities.
